Tracadie, NB – September 9, 2024 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada is announcing today a new management measure for the Commercial Oyster Fishery for the Eastern New Brunswick area.
NEW licence condition
A new licence condition has been added in 2024 to all commercial oyster licences. The new condition specifies that the licence holder shall not participate in aquaculture activities of any kind while fishing under the authority of a commercial oyster licence. This measure is put in place to prevent the harvest of undersized commercial oysters for aquaculture use.
