If you see a whale
Maintain a minimum 100 metre distance and please provide the following information:
- Contact information
- Date and time of sighting
- Lat Long coordinates
- Number of Right Whales observed
- Photos and / or videos (if possible)
Sightings
Sightings of live, free-swimming North Atlantic Right Whales must be reported to: DFO.GLFWhales-BaleinesGLF.MPO@dfo-mpo.gc.ca
Sightings of entangled, dead, or injured North Atlantic Right Whales must be reported to the following regional organizations:
- New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island: Marine Animal Response Society at 1-866-567-6277 OR VHF 16
- Quebec: Marine Mammal Emergencies at 1-877-722-5346
- Newfoundland and Labrador: Whale Release and Strandings at 1-709-895-3003
