INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANT

This application form is to be used for the following application types only:

  • Boundary amendment
  • Moving an existing lease
  • Converting lease type
  • New bottom or water column (OB or SUR) lease

Please note that at this time, only certain application types may be open.

Please completely respond to each question. Incomplete applications are not considered accepted and will delay the processing of your application. Applications are not considered received until all necessary information is received. Leasing division staff will be in contact with you regarding fee payment.

*Please Note: Application forms and information on the process for the following application types are to be obtained directly from the PEI Aquaculture Leasing Division (902-566-7996 or PEIAquaculture@dfo-mpo.gc.ca)

  • Holding lease
  • Spat licence
  • Add or delete a species for culture
  • Lease transfer
  • Lease split
  • Delete a signatory to the lease agreement
  • Mortgage assignment or
  • Estate reconciliation.

Starting August 8, 2022, we are only accepting applications for boundary amendments for existing off-bottom (OB) and surface (SUR) leases. Leaseholders will be notified by email and on this website regarding changes.

Riparian rights of adjacent landowners. Landowners have a right to access “navigable” water (navigable water is defined as a minimum of 4 feet in Prince Edward Island). Leases that use gear or crop in the water column must include navigational corridors in the lease footprints to accommodate access to and from shore.
