EXPRESSION OF INTEREST OPPORTUNITY - COMMERCIAL LOBSTER FISHING LICENCE

The Government of Canada is committed to expanding access to rights-based fisheries for Indigenous peoples and is reviewing all options available, including acquiring access through this process. Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) Gulf Region is opening the expression of interest (EOI) process for existing commercial licence holders who are interested in either leaving or reducing their participation in the fishery in exchange for financial assistance. DFO Gulf Region is currently seeking expression of interest proposals from commercial fishing licence holders for the the Gulf Nova Scotia Area in lobster fishing areas (LFA) 26A and 26B. Submissions are accepted until August 26, 2022

Please be aware that DFO will only consider proposals that fall within current estimated market value ranges, as determined at the sole discretion of DFO, and which vary over time. Independent third party analysis of recent market transactions informed the establishment of these estimated market value ranges in combination with information available to the department. It is advised that applicants seek advice from an established broker on the current estimated market value prior to submitting the application. The Department does not intend to engage in negotiations during this process.

Please note that this opportunity will be subject to the funds available. This process is being conducted by the DFO Gulf Region.

  1. This application must be received no later than August 26, 2022.
  2. Once you click submit, the application will be received by the Gulf Region electronically.
  3. Once submitted, you will received a copy of this application at the email address entered in this application. You must keep the emailed copy of your application for your records.

SECTION 5 – Declaration and Signature

If the licence holder is a company, only authorized signatories may sign the application on behalf of the company in accordance with the Fisheries (General) Regulations. Under the Regulations, only officers of the company may sign the application on behalf of the company. Additionally, the persons signing the application should reflect the signing authorities of the company on record with DFO. DFO Gulf Region Licensing Operations has on record a copy of either a Confirmation of Signing Authorities or an Amendment to Confirmation of Signing Authorities form listing the signing authorities on behalf of the company. Before signing the agreement, you may contact DFO Gulf Region Licensing Operations to obtain copies of those forms or to ask about the procedures to change company signing authorities on record with DFO. You should consult with a lawyer if you have any questions regarding the authorized signatories of the company in relation to the application.
