Tracadie, New Brunswick (NB) – April 27, 2026 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), Gulf Region, announces a change in the opening dates of the lobster fishery in LFA 23, subareas A, C and D, for the 2026 season.
Following a request from industry, the opening date for the 2026 lobster fishery in LFA 23 A, C and D has been changed to May 4. The season opening date for the subarea 23 B will remain on April 30th.
Conference calls will be held between DFO and stakeholders in the days leading up to the scheduled opening, to ensure a safe opening based on weather and safety conditions.
